Retirement Transitions

As a photographer, I have been feeling a bit stuck lately. With my retirement a couple of years ago and my current state of transition, I haven’t been shooting as much as I’d like to. However, the start of the new year has given me the opportunity to reflect on the joy I get from capturing the beauty of the outer Cape through my camera lens.

Although uncertain about the direction of my photography, I was recently asked to put up a show of my landscapes and seascapes at Cambridge Homes, an assisted living facility where my mom lived until recently. This is a very special place, with amazing staff, and I am humbled to be asked. I am looking forward to putting up the show in June, and it’s a great chance to reflect on my body of work and curate a collection that represents my artistic vision.

As I prepare for the show, I am taking the time to remember what drew me to photography in the first place. The beauty of outer Cape Cod has always been a source of inspiration, and I want to continue capturing its essence in my work. This is a time for me to explore new ideas and take risks with my photography. With each new photograph, I am excited to see where this transitional phase will take me and what new possibilities will arise.
